1. I think it depends on the country. I remember when I lived in Japan, silver and white had the best resale value. Lately here in the US it seems like bright off colors are pretty popular. Gold, copper, Bright blues and greens. But if you think of the future and what your car may be worth come time to trade in, you can't go wrong with white, black,silver.
2. It depends on the type of vehicle. The most popular colors overall are silver (19%) followed by white (16%) then black (13%) and gray(13%). The least popular colors are green, white and yellow/gold.
