Old Cars For Sale

How to go about s selling my old car wihtout going the private sale route?

I have an old peogeut 306 which is P reg (1997) I am looking to get rid of it by the end of my tax whixh is May. I dont want to sell it private as it has too much work needs doing so I would prefer to sell it to scrap yard. I would prefer not to sell it to webuyanycar, com as the price they came up with was absolute rip off. I was hoping for a few hundred for it but I am probably aiming too high Any ideas how to go about sorting this out between now and end of May?

  1. It's a thirteen year old car, with lots of faults that's about to run out of tax. If it's not got much MOT left either then it's only value is as parts or scrap metal. If you want to scrap it then drive it to the nearest scrap metal yard on the last day of the tax, you might get about £50. Have a friend with you, be prepared to remove the wheels and take them with you because most yards deduct money if you don't. You may get a bit more at a vehicle breakers but you'll be lucky to get over £100. You could advertise it as 'spares or repairs'
  2. There are used car lots that will buy your car without you buying one of theirs. The one in my area, U.S., Utah, is First Class Cars. I'm not sure you can do better than junk, but it's worth a few phone calls. Also, there may be lots that take cars "on consignment." You clean your car and leave it there, they show it. If it sells, they get a cut for their trouble and you get rid of your pos. The cars are, generally, sold "as is."
  3. aim for 80 quidish
  4. Not a lot to choose if u do not advertise as in need of repairs or spares [to cover you] Will not get a lot if mot is nearly out and requires a lot of work. Trade buyers and scrap dealers only Option but will not pay much, try many for best price. Sorry u are aiming way to high
  5. Sell it to a scrappy? You'll be lucky. These days You have to pay them to take it away.
