Old Cars For Sale

What year was Ford's best make of the Falcon?

New to vintage cars, and I saw a 1964 Ford Falcon for sale. Is that a good year? What does one need to consider before purchasing a car of that kind? What are your thoughts about 1963 falcon?

  1. Ah the Ford Falcon. My dad spent most of his free time restoring a 64 2dr Falcon Sprint. 3 speed 289, so damn fast. I like them, but I am biased.
  2. I think the 1964 Ford Falcon is the best choice for you...
  3. falcon came out in 60, by 62 it was good, body style changed in 64
  4. The '64-'65 Falcon is one of the better choices. They got a nicer looking body in '64. They are the last of the smaller Falcons before they got bigger. With a V8 they were great cars with plenty of power and speed, and great looks. Nice thing about the '64-'65, especially '65, is that they share a lot of undercarriage components with the Mustang, so parts are easy to come by and cheap. My brother had a '62 Falcon, and parts were harder to find compared to the '64 my dad had.
  5. They ard both good years. I like botb of them. There are a few improvements like bigger springs and a wider tread. The biggest difference is the body style. A 1964 is generally more desirable, mostly because of the style. Mechanical parts are available at the local parts store. Almost all of the parts for the interior are reproduced or readily available for both years. The 1963 will have a little inline six, unless you get a Sprint. The inline six isn't very powerful, but they are simple, reliable, and will get you down the highway. If the you have a 260 V8 then feel lucky. It will have around 164 horsepower and is a rare antique motor. That will really move the little car down the road. The car probably won't have power steering, power breaks, air conditioning, etc. They were just plain little cars with some style.
