Shipping internationally from ebay?
I have a vintage car radio listed for sale, I am in the Midwest, USA, and a potential buyer asked me if I would be willing to ship internationally to Spain. Says he has a certified paypal address and wants it for a car he is restoring. I've never shipped outside the states before, and realized this would add to the complexity. How would I go about revising my shipping cost of he wins the auction. What else would I need to do? Or would it be more trouble than it's worth?

- It is a scam.
- Shipping to spain via USPS is not expensive at all. In fact most successful sellers ship overseas, like to Europe, as well. Just ignore the moron that thinks all transactions not made in the USA are scams. There are 300 million americans and 6.4 billion people in the world. Think who is the majority.
- Hi, You can go to usps.com & figure international shipping from there. If the buyer has a confirmed paypal address & you can track the shipping then you should be ok. One thing to check out in Paypal is the currency fee as their % will be higher than US funds.
- Use the shipping calculator on www.usps.com to determine the exact postage from your zip code to Italy. Tell the buyer to NOT pay until you have sent a revised invoice. If this buyer wins the auction, all you have to do is edit the invoice before you send it to reflect the correct amount of shipping (plus whatever handling fees you charge). The buyer will have to pay the amount on the invoice. Package it as normal and fill out a customs form at the post office before you send it.
- It's much easier than you think. All you have to do is put the radio in a box, fill it with whatever you usually fill it with, weigh it then go to usps.com and click on the "Calculate shipping" and click on "international", choose spain, and then fill in the package type and weight. Then you will be shown a list of options and how much it costs. I advise to choose First Class International if it weighs less than 4lbs (maximum allowed in that rate). You can also use a flat rate Priority Mail medium box for $42 if the rate for Priority Mail by weight is too much. Pretty much First Class and Priority Mail are the most common and best options for international shipping. I've been shipping internationally (books) for many years and have had no problems at all. It contributes to having more sales.
